I’ve looked at prices for individual solar panels, and they are pretty affordable. But that’s just the panel and I don’t know what else as for as labor and equipment it costs to install and hook up so that the panel actually powers other things like water heater or whatever. I know it probably depends on many factors but just give me an idea if you can. Thanks.

Building a case that has 5 Handheld radios with a 50W mobile radio on the top. I have a 12V solar panel. Is it possible to wire the solar panel to the radio and put it on a switch so that you can change from uninterrupted power (house current) to the solar panel to power the radio? Looking for the easiest and cheapest way to do this.

I have a small fishing finder that takes a 12v or 6v battery. I see solar panel chargers that hook up to the battery and charge that.. but my question is:
Is it possible to hook up the solar panel to the fishing finder without the battery and run it whenever the bright sun is out? or do i NEED the batter for the finder to work? Thank you.

I’m installing a solar battery charger for my lawn tractor. The instructions says attach the positive wire(+) to the positive red post of the battery and the negative wire to the negative post.
However, both wires look the same except that one wire has a white stripe the entire length. Which wire is the positive?

Say solar panels converted 100% of energy from the sun. How much energy would a solar panel get that was, say, 1 square foot? What I mean is how much of the sun’s energy actually gets to the solar panel?

So i’m looking into using a solar panel to charge some 12V – DC – 5AH batteries. I’m planning on using a 12V solar panel. Ive been looking online and see alot with different ratings such as (2W, 5W, 7W, etc). What does the power rating mean?
Thanks

I have a Whole House Generator and I just installed a Solar Battery Charger. What I am trying to design is to be able to read the Voltage from the Solar Panel and from the Battery. I want to be able to read each source ( Solar Panel & Battery ) separately using only one panel mounted DC Voltmeter and one switch if possible. I want the meter to be off until you flip the switch. The Solar Panel will alway be charging the Battery until you read the volts on the meter.
I hope someone can help.
Thank You,
Ned

I am trying to construct a charger using solar cells. The charger has a 12V and 1A DC adapter, so I figured if I could get 12V and 1A worth of solar cells it would work the same. The problem is that it’s really hard to connect the cells I have to get those specs. My question, is if I connect the cells and get extra V or A, or even both, will it hurt the charger? Will the charger only take what power it needs?
Ex: 12V and 1A required
Will these scenarios hurt it?
18V and 1A?
12V and 2A?
18V and 2A?
